Quotable!
"If Willie asked us to jump off the Fort Pitt Bridge, we would ask him what kind of dive he wanted. That's how much respect we have for the man."

By Wikipedia

Matt Vasgersian is a sportscaster and television host, known for his versatility and humor.

Vasgersian started his media career as a child actor. A member of the Screen Actors Guild at age seven, he appeared in an episode of The Streets of San Francisco and the movie The Candidate.

A native Californian, Vasgersian graduated from the University of Southern California. In 1991 he began his career as a sportscaster with the Chicago Cubs Class A affiliate in Huntington, WV. on radio station WKEE-AM 800. He moved up the minor league baseball ranks over the next several years, working for various clubs in a number of different organizations. He reached the majors as the television play-by-play announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers in 1997. He moved to the TV booth of the San Diego Padres in 2002. He is currently a backup announcer for Fox Sports football games and is the voice of MLB 2006 for PlayStation 2.

Vasgersian did play-by-play for the doomed XFL football league in 2001. He has hosted several TV game shows, including Sports Geniuses (2001), World Series of Blackjack (2004), Celebrity Blackjack (2004) and the first season grand final of Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament. He has also emceed various sports specials and other programs, such as the International World Championships of Rock Paper Scissors (2004). Vasgersian recently announced for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, filling in for Mike Goldberg, the usual announcer, who was working on Fox Sports Net's college football telecast on the night of UFC 56.

Vasgersian is quick-witted and always ready with a pop-culture reference. He has been criticized by a few for too much showmanship in his announcing.

Share Your Memories!

Our sites have always been by you and about you. If you check our TV Forums or our Technology & Science forums, you'll find literally thousands of messages from fans of 1970s TV shows, survivors of hurricanes or aircraft accidents, etc. from all over the world sharing their memories, asking questions, making comments. Our baseball section is new, but don't let that stop you from sharing your memories of the first game you went to, your favorite player, a now-forgotten stadium, etc. Of course you can also ask questions, post trivia, tell the world what you think of Barry Bonds, or just read what others are saying.
