1973 Topps All-Star Rookies
Below are the winners of the 1973 Topps Rookie All-Star awards. American
League Rookie of the Year received 13 of 20 votes for Rookie of the Year
from the Baseball Writers Association of American while Rich Coggins
received only one, but Coggins was named one of three outfielders on the
Topps Rookie All Star team while Bumbry failed to make the team.
Topps, a maker of baseball cards since the early 1950s, began awarding the top rookies of each year in 1959.
The winners had a "rookie trophy" added to their baseball card
to denote the award the following year between 1960 and 1978 (except 1974) and starting
again in 1987. Read more about the award here.

Notes: Topps chooses three outfielders
regardless of position (LF, CF, RF). Such players are therefore shown above in
random outfield positions and not necessarily where they played. Not all winners each year appeared on Topps cards the following season.

Our sites have always been by you and about you. If
you check
our TV Forums or our Technology & Science forums, you'll find literally thousands of messages from fans
of 1970s TV shows, survivors of hurricanes or aircraft accidents, etc. from all over the world sharing their memories, asking
questions, making comments. Our baseball section is new, but don't let
that stop you from sharing
your memories of the first game you went to, your favorite player, a
now-forgotten stadium, etc. Of course you can also ask questions, post
trivia, tell the world what you think of Barry Bonds, or just read what
others are saying.
