1978 Major League Draft

Here is the first round of the 1978 Major League Baseball draft.

Horner, Mike Morgan, Tim Conroy and seventh rounder Brian Milner all debuted in the majors without having played in the minors (complete list). Milner was the lowest pick to ever do so and hit .444 for the expansion Blue Jays in 1978. The 18 year old played in two major league games before heading to the minors never to emerge again. This means that although he is younger than Rickey Henderson, his major league career was over before Henderson's even started. (Can you tell I'm a fan of Jayson Stark's Useless Info column?)

Share Your Memories!

Our sites have always been by you and about you. If you check our TV Forums or our Technology & Science forums, you'll find literally thousands of messages from fans of 1970s TV shows, survivors of hurricanes or aircraft accidents, etc. from all over the world sharing their memories, asking questions, making comments. Our baseball section is new, but don't let that stop you from sharing your memories of the first game you went to, your favorite player, a now-forgotten stadium, etc. Of course you can also ask questions, post trivia, tell the world what you think of Barry Bonds, or just read what others are saying.
