Who Am I?
When I came back from a stint in Japan, I became the first Major Leaguer in over a decade to hit at least 50 home runs in a season.

Who am I?

Draft by Year

1988 Major League Draft

Here is the first round of the 1988 Major League Baseball draft.

While none of the first rounders can expect to find themselves represented in Cooperstown, there were a number of solid players drafted early in 1988.

Although #8 overall pick Jim Abbott is usually remember for other things (such as his no hitter as a Yankee), he was of one three players in the Awesome80s - and one of 20 in the 20th Century - who were drafted but made their pro debut in the majors (complete list). He was the first since Pete Incaviglia in 1985.

Share Your Memories!

Our sites have always been by you and about you. If you check our TV Forums or our Technology & Science forums, you'll find literally thousands of messages from fans of 1970s TV shows, survivors of hurricanes or aircraft accidents, etc. from all over the world sharing their memories, asking questions, making comments. Our baseball section is new, but don't let that stop you from sharing your memories of the first game you went to, your favorite player, a now-forgotten stadium, etc. Of course you can also ask questions, post trivia, tell the world what you think of Barry Bonds, or just read what others are saying.
