"A great black comedy that can stand beside M*A*S*H as one of the most irreverent comedies about the Men & Women we depend on when we need medical help. Bill Cosby plays the devil may care ambulance driver who drinks beer & listens to R&B music as He drives. Raquel Welch plays the dispatcher who gets qualified as an EMS only to be not taken seriously. It seems no one can see beyond Her physical attributes. (can you imagine that ?!)Harvey Keitel, in an early performance (He was the pimp in Taxi Driver the same year), plays a disgraced cop on suspension for suspicion of dealing cocaine. Together, they're the 3 characters of the Movie's title. Mother, Jugs and Speed (guess who's who). To make a long story short they work a somewhat shady Ambulance service who are in competition with another Ambulance service. There are funny other characters as well. . Larry Hagman as a horny driver who is not above accosting unconcious girls, Bruce (Willard) Davison as Cosby's sidekick who tokes on duty and Allen Garfield as Harry Fishbine the owner of F&B Ambulance Co. Garfield was a great character actor who popped up in several Super70s Films. A funny un-politically Correct comedy that has just made it's Widescreen DVD debut (3/9/04). It's funny stuff!!!!" --Michael C. |
