Ice Castles By Tom Keogh
Not half-bad, this lightly engaging, potboiler romance concerns an ice
skater (Lynn-Holly Johnson) who loses her vision in an accident but goes
on to excel on the ice with the support of the guy (Robby Benson) who
loves her. When she takes up with some rich schmuck, however, intertwining
problems in her work and in love throw a shadow over everything. Nice
performances, nice skating--the whole thing is a pleasant distraction.
Academy Awards
Ice Castles received an Academy
Awards nomination for Best Song (Marvin Hamlisch, Carole Bayer Sager). |

"The first time I watched Ice Castles was in the Awesome80s. It left such a great impression on me that, when I saw the DVD in the video store, I had to buy it. I cried again! This movie is so inspiring and heartwarming that I watch it when I'm on the treadmill. My favorite scene is when she skates the last time almost blind. The emotion on her boyfriends face is classic. I cried my eyes out. This is just an all around feel good Movie. Everyone should watch it at least once!" --Crazy Greek |
