SLA: Willy Wolfe

William 'Willy' Wolfe grew up in the East Coast as the son of an anesthesiologist. He attended prep schools and was a National Merit Scholar finalist. He moved to Berkeley in 1971 and forged friendships with fellow Marxists which led him to eventually join the terrorist group the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA).

He raped Patty Hearst after the group kidnapped her although she eventually - as Tania - became his lover. He died with five other SLA members in a televised shootout with police on May 17, 1974.
