1971 Topps Greatest MomentsBy Patrick Mondout
For a time in the Awesome80s, this set was the holy grail of Topps
Super70s test issues, but the price has not moved much since then. It is
still quite valuable, and can command well over $1,000 in top shape. Like
'71 Topps, the cards feature black borders making them susceptible to noticeable
damage with only light handling.
The set features most of the big stars of the day with a newspaper
style report on one of their great moments on the back while the fronts
feature a head shot and an action shot. The key card in this set is the
Reggie Jackson (see far right, but note that the second image is the back
of the Yaz card), not so much for scarcity but simply because he was the
youngest future Hall of Famer in the set ('71 Topps was only his third
standard issue card).
