1974 Topps Traded

The 1974 set was the first to be released all at once rather than in a series. This meant that there were more than the usual number of players shown with a team they no longer play for as all the cards were finalized in late December of 1973. Topps issued this 44 card "traded" sets - its first such set - in wax packs later in the season.

Unfortunately, Topps had airbrush artists "paint" the new uniforms on the players photos rather than hire photographers to shoot new pictures during the season. It has never been popular with collectors and, despite the fact that it was included with the rare (and first ever) factory sets, it is not considered part of the 1974 regular set of 660 cards.
