1969-70 O-Pee-Chee Hockey Cards

O-Pee-Chee cards were released in ten card wax packs for 1969-70 and in two series. The first series consists of the first 132 cards while the final 99 cards were released later in the year as series 2. Stamps were issued in series one wax packs while "four-in-one" punch-out 1"x1.5" adhesive cards were included in series two.

As expected for O-Pee-Chee cards, the blue and gold backs were in French and English. Players who had a stamp printed in series one cards had a place on the back of their card to place the stamp (see the Bobby Orr card below). Stamping the card in that way greatly diminished the value of the card. Players without a stamp have a cartoon in that position instead.

The cards featured a large, usually posed player photo flanked by a giant hockey stick on the right. A team logo was placed over the photo on the top right or top left. The player's name and team nickname are below the photograph in the white border area. A hockey puck displays the player's position.

Subsets include All-Stars and award winners. There was also a "Mr. Hockey" card for Gordie Howe. Rookie cards include Tony Esposito, Bob Barlow, Gerry Desjardins, Nick Libbett, Jean Pronovost, and Bryan Hextall.
