1976 Oakland Raiders
When football fans talk about the perfect season the '72
Dolphins achieved, the talk soon turns to the teams that have come
closest to another undefeated season. While the 1985
Chicago Bears and the 1998 Denver Broncos (who started 13-0) are
brought up frequently, many forget about the 1976 Oakland Raiders. While
it is true that they never even made it to 4-0, they did only have one
loss - a decisive loss that was avenged in the divisional
playoffs - and cruised to an easy victory in the Super
Bowl. Overshadowed by the mid-to-late Super70s Pittsburgh
Steelers and the '72 Dolphins, the '76 Raiders were certainly one of
the best teams of the decade.
