Rich Man, Poor ManBy Wikipedia
Rich Man, Poor Man was a 1976 American television miniseries
based on a 1969 novel by Irwin Shaw.
Broadcast in eight episodes on February 1, 2, 9, 16, 23, and March 1,
8, and 15 in 1976 on ABC,
the twelve hour miniseries was one of the earliest such TV miniseries, and
its ratings success led to other miniseries, including Roots.
When 20 Emmy nominations came tumbling in, a "second" series
called Rich Man, Poor Man: Book
2 was produced and broadcast in the fall. (That "Book 2"
name led to this first series being retitled "Book 1" when it
was rebroadcast in early 1977).
The story contrasts the lives of a pair of immigrant brothers in the
United States from 1945 to 1965, successful businessman Rudy Jordache
(Peter Strauss) and hot-headed boxer Tom Jordache (Nick Nolte). Rudy
became romantically involved with and married Julie Prescott (Susan
Blakely). We've not had time to write about this TV show yet. If you were a fan, we'd love to have you help us out by writing a synopsis or review! |
