NBC Movie of the WeekBy Patrick Mondout
NBC, like CBS and ABC,
has had several spots on its schedules over the years dedicated to running
recent movies and made-for-TV movies. Here are a few of the timeslots NBC
has used over the years and what they called them:
NBC Saturday Night at the Movies (starting in 1961)
NBC Tuesday Night at the Movies (starting in 1965)
NBC Monday Night at the Movies (starting in 1968)
The Bold Ones (1969 which rotated between The
New Doctors, The Lawyers, The
Protectors, The Senator)
NBC/Wednesday/Sunday Mystery Movie (1971-1977 which rotated between Banacek,
Columbo, Cool
Million, Mannix, McCloud,
& McMillan and Wife and
replaced by The Big Event in the fall of 1977)
NBC World Premiere Movie (1971)
NBC Thursday Night at the Movies (1975)
NBC Movie of the Week (1976)
The Big Event (1977)
NBC Late-Night Movie (beginning in the summer of 1977)
NBC has also used these timeslots to show first-run miniseries,
such as Jesus of Nazareth (which
aired as part of The Big Event in 1977).
