The "Corner Bar" was an entertaining summer show that unfortunately never found itself. The first season was funnier, because it centered around Grant's Tomb, a bar owned by Harry Grant. An assorted group of barflies met there, and it was harmless. One funny line was when the cabby said, "My mother's Irish, and my mother-in-law's Italian. The only thing they agree on is the Pope!"
The show returned the enxt summer with a new cast, and strange ideas. Alan King played himself as a friend of the owner. It seems that some mobsters wanted to take over the Corner Bar, and Alan pretended to be a Godfather, and scared them off.
I miss this show, and I would love to find a copy of it somewhere. --Rhfarb | Note: This is just a random sample of the Corner Bar messages in our TV forums! Click here to see what others have said or to post your own comments! |
